Yet for all this they will not turn from their iniquities: The demonstrative pronoun this refers to the punishments mentioned in the previous verse. Turn from their iniquities may be rendered simply “stop sinning.”

Nor be always mindful of the scourges: Good News Bible says “they will soon forget their punishment.”

Good News Bible supplies an easily understood model for this verse. Another possible one is:

• But they will never stop sinning, and will soon forget how God punished them.
