The Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek and Latin that is translated as “army” in English is translated in Chichewa as “group of warriors.” (Source: Mawu a Mulungu mu Chichewa Chalero Back Translation)
Translation commentary on 1 Maccabees 3:19
It is not on the size of the army that victory in battle depends, but strength comes from Heaven: These two clauses may be reversed by saying “After all, strength in battle comes from Heaven [or, the One in Heaven], not from the size of the army” or “After all, it is the One in Heaven who helps us win battles [or, defeat our enemies], not how many soldiers we have.”
