The various Greek, Aramaic, Ge’ez, and Latin and Hebrew terms that are translated as “sea,” “ocean,” or “lake” in English are all translated in Chichewa with one term: nyanja. Malawi, where Chichewa is spoken, has a lot of lakes but does not share a border with the ocean. (Source: Mawu a Mulungu mu Chichewa Chalero Back Translation)

Translation commentary on 1 Maccabees 15:11

Antiochus pursued him, and he came in his flight to Dor, which is by the sea: Dor was an old Phoenician seaport, located about 24 kilometers (15 miles) south of Mount Carmel. Antiochus had probably landed at Seleucia, and began marching south in pursuit of Trypho. He came in his flight to Dor, which is by the sea may be rendered “Trypho and his soldiers fled to the city of Dor on the coast.” An alternative model for the whole verse is:

• Trypho and his men fled to the coastal city of Dor, and Antiochus and his soldiers followed [or, pursued] him.
