Translation commentary on 1 Maccabees 13:1
Simon heard that Trypho had assembled a large army to invade the land of Judah and destroy it may be expressed as “People told Simon that Trypho had got together a huge number of soldiers to invade Judea and destroy it.” See also the models for verses 1-2 below.
