Translation commentary on 1 Chronicles 23:12

Verses 12-20 list the descendants of Kohath, one of Levi’s three sons (verse 6).

The sons of Kohath … four: Kohath’s four sons were listed earlier in 1 Chr 6.2. As in previous verses, the number is given at the end of the verse, but it will be more natural in some languages to put this information near the beginning (so Good News Translation). This is done even in rather literal English versions such as New American Standard Bible.
