Translation commentary on 1 Chronicles 1:15

The Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites: As in the previous verse, these names are singular in Hebrew, but should be translated as plurals since they have a collective meaning.

The Hivites probably lived in the central and northern regions of the land that God promised to the people of Israel.

The Arkites were probably the inhabitants of the coastal Phoenician town of Irqata.

The Sinites are located by some scholars in southern Egypt, but more likely they lived in northern Canaan.
