The deliverance of the righteous and the destruction of their enemies were expected by thy people: The righteous are of course God’s people, the Israelites. By this point the reader will surely realize this, and make the identification of “the righteous nation” (Good News Translation) with “Your people” (Good News Translation), the subject of the sentence. But to guard against lack of understanding, the translator could make the identification clear for this verse as follows:

• Your people, the righteous [or, obedient] nation, knew that you [God] would rescue them and destroy their enemies.
