Translation commentary on Job 36:22

Behold, God is exalted in his power: Behold is Elihu’s attention-getter for important messages to follow. “Look,” “Listen,” “See how” are some equivalents in English. Good News Translation has “Remember.” Exalted translates a verb form meaning “to be very high” in terms of honor. Dhorme translates “sublime,” Good News Translation “great,” and New English Bible renders the line “God towers in majesty above us.” Bible en français courant has “Yes, God is sovereign, he has such power.”

Who is a teacher like him?: this rhetorical question can be expressed “what teacher can compare with him?” This question is expressed as a statement by Good News Translation. New Jerusalem Bible uses a verb phrase: “Who can teach lessons as he does?”
