Following Elihu’s advice, Remember to extol his work, would be wiser than criticizing God for being unjust. Extol translates a verb meaning “to magnify, make great, increase.” The sense is “to praise, speak greatly of.” His work is literally “his doings” and relates to the same verb used in verse 23b. Bible en français courant translates “Don’t forget to celebrate what he has done.”

Of which men have sung refers to such people as the psalmist and poets who have sung God’s praises, taking as their theme the wondrous works of God. Good News Translation transposes the two lines for a more logical order and translates “praise” in both lines. Another rendering, for example, is “Remember to praise God for what he has done for us, things for which people sing his praises”; or, if the lines are transposed, “People have always sung his praises. You too should remember to praise him for what he has done.”
