Thus says the LORD: See 2.2.

Wise man … mighty man … rich man: All three of these are used of people in general, though it is customary for Hebrew to use the masculine form in such contexts. Translators, however, may need to be more all-inclusive, as in “those [people] who are wise … strong … rich.”

Glory in means “take pride in,” “boast of,” or “brag about.”

The construction, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, let not …, is rendered as “The wise should not boast of their wisdom…” by Good News Translation, but another good model is “People who are wise should not boast about being wise….”

In some languages wisdom, strength, and wealth are better expressed as verbs, as in “how wise they are, … how strong they are, … how rich they are.”
