Habitations translates a word that may mean either “pasturage” or “residence.” Its first occurrence is in 10.25. English versions are about evenly divided on whether to use “pasture” or “sheepfolds.” Some have an ambiguous phrase that could be understood as places or residences for the shepherds. This seems unlikely, as the reference seems to be to places for the sheep.

Resting their flocks: Both New American Bible (“to couch their flocks”) and New English Bible (“fold their flocks”) sound somewhat odd; New Jewish Publication Society’s Tanakh renders the last two clauses “there shall again be pasture for shepherds, where they can rest their flocks.”
