As elsewhere in Jeremiah, give you into the hand of means “turn you over to the power of,” “hand you over to,” or “let [them] capture you” (see 12.7).
Those who seek your life: See 4.30. These persons are further defined as those of whom you are afraid … Nebuchadrezzar … the Chaldeans. In Hebrew you (of you are afraid) is emphatic. Nebuchadrezzar is rendered in Good News Translation as “Nebuchadnezzar,” which is the better known spelling among English speakers (see 21.2). Chaldeans is another name for “Babylonians” (see 21.4).
