The word that came … from the LORD: See the comment at 1.2. Good News Translation translates “The LORD said to me,” while Die Bibel im heutigen Deutsch places verses 1-2 together and begins, “The Lord gave me the task of saying to the people of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem….” Translators could also say “Here is what the LORD said to Jeremiah,” or they could join this to the next verse with “Here is what the LORD told Jeremiah to say to the people of Judah and Jerusalem.”
