This verse brings the ten genealogical reports from Adam to Noah to a close, with the birth of not one son but three: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. However, the Noah report only begins in verse 32. Inserted between the opening and closing of the Noah genealogy is the entire flood story. The death report of Noah will be given in 9.28.
