Sown places shall suddenly appear unsown, and full storehouses shall suddenly be found to be empty: This verse predicts famine (compare Matt 24.7). The Latin word for storehouses (“barns” in Good News Bible) refers to small structures, usually made of stone, for storing agricultural produce. Good News Bible provides a helpful model for this verse. Another possibility is:

• Fields where people have planted seeds will suddenly become bare, and they will find full barns empty.
