These cities which are mentioned by name refers to the cities mentioned previously in verses 54-60. Some may prefer to translate “the cities that have already been named” or “the towns that were mentioned above” (similarly New Living Translation).

The information contained in this verse is considered parenthetical by Good News Translation and Revised English Bible. But most modern versions find the parentheses unnecessary in this case.
