Translation commentary on 1 Chronicles 29:27

The time that he reigned over Israel was forty years: Good News Translation restructures verses 26 and 27, making this clause a part of the sentence started in the previous verse (so also Contemporary English Version). This restructuring may provide a possible model for certain other languages.

He reigned seven years in Hebron, and thirty-three years in Jerusalem: See 1 Chr 3.4. Parola Del Signore: La Bibbia in Lingua Corrente says “the first seven in the city of Hebron and thirty-three in Jerusalem.” Parola Del Signore: La Bibbia in Lingua Corrente indicates clearly that David ruled in Hebron first before he ruled in Jerusalem and also shows that Hebron was a city.
