Translation commentary on Luke 20:34

Exegesis:

hoi huioi tou aiōnos toutou ‘the children of this age,’ cf. on 16.8. Here it is used in a temporal sense. The phrase refers to both men and women, see below.

gamousin kai gamiskontai ‘marry and are given in marriage.’ The former refers to men, the latter to women, cf. 17.27. gamiskō is synonymous with gamizō (v. 35).

Translation:

The sons of this age, preferably, ‘the children of (or, people belonging to) this age,’ ‘those who live in the present age/time,’ without the pejorative connotation the phrase has in 16.8.

Marry and are given in marriage, see on 17.27.
