SIL Translator’s Notes on Judges 17:4

17:4a So he returned the silver to his mother,

After he returned the silver to his mother,
-or-
So Micah gave the silver back to his mother.

17:4b and she took two hundred shekels of silver

she gave two hundred (200) pieces of silver
-or-
From it she took two kilograms of silver.

17:4c and gave them to a silversmith,

to a silver craftsman.
-or-
She gave it to a man who works with precious metals.

17:4d who made them into a graven image and a molten idol.

(English Standard Version🙂 who made it into a carved image and a metal image.

He used it to make two statues ⌊of gods⌋ .
-or-
He used it to make a metal idol and ⌊the covering for⌋ a carved idol.

17:4e And they were placed in the house of Micah.

They put the statues in Micah’s house.
-or-
Then they placed the idols in Micah’s house.
