14:19a Then the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him,

Then the spirit of Yahweh quickly came on Samson with great power.

Then the spirit of Yahweh rushed down on Samson.

14:19b and he went down to Ashkelon,

He went down to the town of Ashkelon.

He went to Ashkelon town,

14:19c killed thirty of their men,

He killed thirty of the men there.

and there he killed thirty men.

14:19d took their apparel,

He took their belongings

He took everything they had

14:19e and gave their clothes to those who had solved the riddle.

and ⌊from that⌋ , he gave the clothes ⌊that he had promised⌋ to those who answered the riddle.

and he gave their clothing to the men who had told him the solution to the riddle.

14:19f And burning with anger, Samson returned to his father’s house,

With anger like a fire ⌊in his heart⌋ , Samson went back to the house of his father.

Samson was still very angry as he went home to his father’s house.
