1:21a The Benjamites, however, failed to drive out the Jebusites living in Jerusalem.

But the descendants of Benjamin could not force the people of Jebus to leave Jerusalem.

But the clan of Benjamin were not able to defeat the people of Jebus who were in Jerusalem.

1:21b So to this day the Jebusites live there among the Benjamites.

So, since that time the people of Jebus have lived in Jerusalem with the people of Benjamin.

⌊This is why⌋ the Jebus people still live in Jerusalem with the people of the clan of Benjamin.
