11:17a Then Israel sent messengers to the king of Edom, saying,

They sent messengers to the king of Edom saying,

11:17b ‘Please let us pass through your land,’

“Please let us pass through your country.”

to allow them to pass through his land,

11:17c but the king of Edom would not listen.

However, the king of Edom would not let them.

but he refused.

11:17d They also sent messengers to the king of Moab, but he would not consent.

They also sent messengers to the king of Moab and he did not agree.

They also asked the king of Moab but he too refused.

11:17e So Israel stayed in Kadesh.

So the Israelites stayed at Kadesh.

So the people of Israel stayed at the town of Kadesh.
