These are the leaders of families who returned with Ezra

8:1a These are the family heads and genealogical records of those who returned with me from Babylon

(NET Bible) These are the leaders and those enrolled with them by genealogy who were coming up with me from Babylon

¶ These are the heads/chiefs of extended families and the men of their families who came with them who have written proof of their descent/ancestry. They traveled/journeyed from Babylon with me

¶ These are ⌊the names of⌋ clan/family leaders who came with me from Babylon and ⌊the number of⌋ men who were/came with them. The lineage of all of them was recorded/written in a book.

¶ The following are the ancestors of family groups and the men of their family whose names were found in a genealogical record. They are the ones who came with me, Ezra, from Babylon ⌊to Jerusalem⌋.

8:1b during the reign of King Artaxerxes:

when Artaxerxes was the king.

This happened when Artaxerxes was the king ⌊of Persia⌋.
-or-
⌊They came with me⌋ at the time that King Artaxerxes was ruling ⌊the land of Persia⌋.
