6:12a May God, who has caused His Name to dwell there,

May God, who has chosen ⌊the city of⌋ Jerusalem as the place where ⌊people⌋ honor his name,

I ask/pray that the God who decided that people should worship him at this temple in Jerusalem will/would
-or-
God made this house in Jerusalem his home. I call upon him to

6:12b overthrow any king or people who lifts a hand to alter this decree

cause the downfall of any king or people who dares/tries to change/dishonor this order
-or-
destroy any king or people who is so bold to disobey/defy this order

6:12c or to destroy this house of God in Jerusalem.

and to destroy the house of God in Jerusalem.

by harming this temple.

6:12d I, Darius, have issued the decree.

I, Darius, have given this order/command.

It is I, ⌊King⌋ Darius, who have said so.

6:12e Let it be carried out with diligence.

It must be done/obeyed fully.”
