4:14a Now because we are in the service of the palace
Now, because we (excl.) eat the salt of the palace/king,
-or-
⌊Your Majesty,⌋ we are your servants and are loyal you.
4:14b and it is not fitting for us to allow the king to be dishonored,
and we (excl.) refuse to allow the king/chief to be shamed/humiliated,
-or-
It is our duty/responsibility to protect your (sing.) honor.
4:14c we have sent to inform the king
we (excl.) are sending this letter to inform him.
-or-
That is why, ⌊Your Majesty⌋, we send you (sing.) this letter so you will know ⌊about it⌋.
