9:3a This is an evil in everything that is done under the sun:

It is wrong that in this world

9:3b There is one fate for everyone.

everyone’s life ends in the same way.

It seems so tragic that everyone under the sun suffers the same fate. (New Living Translation (2004))

9:3c Furthermore, the hearts of men are full of evil and madness while they are alive,

9:3d and afterward they join the dead.

Afterwards, they all die.
