8:10a I will turn your feasts into mourning

I will turn your festivals ⌊of joy-making⌋ into funerals,
-or-
While you are feasting ⌊joyfully⌋ , I will cause you to mourn,

8:10b and all your songs into lamentation.

and ⌊I will turn⌋ your singing into funeral songs.
-or-
and ⌊I will change⌋ your music into wailing.

8:10a–b (combined)

Your festivals and joyful singing, I will turn so that you wail and cry.

I will turn your joyful feasts into mourning ⌊festivals⌋ .

8:10c I will cause everyone to wear sackcloth

I will make all of you wear funeral clothes ⌊to show you are mourning⌋ ,

I will make you all wear course hairy material ⌊as a sign of mourning⌋ .

8:10d and every head to be shaved.

and ⌊I will make you⌋ shave your heads.
-or-
And ⌊I will cause you⌋ to shave your heads completely ⌊like someone mourning the dead⌋ .

8:10e I will make it like a time of mourning for an only son,

I will make you mourn ⌊like parents⌋ mourning for their only son,

I will make you cry like ⌊someone⌋ whose only son has died,

8:10f and its outcome like a bitter day.

and ⌊I will make⌋ everything on that day end in a very bad state.”
