5:19a It will be like a man who flees from a lion, only to encounter a bear,

⌊That day⌋ will be like this: a man runs from a lion ⌊and suddenly⌋ sees a bear.

It will be like someone who escaped a lion but was then attacked by a bear.

5:19b or who enters his house

⌊That day will be⌋ like this: that man enters his house

When he went into his house ⌊to find safety⌋

5:19c and rests his hand against the wall, only to be bitten by a snake.

and he rests his hand on the wall, and then a snake bites him.
