8:9a So Hazael went to meet Elisha,
Hazael ⌊then⌋ went to ⌊the prophet⌋ Elisha.

8:9b taking with him a gift of forty camel loads of every good thing from Damascus.
Hazael took with him forty camels carrying gifts/presents of many fine products from Damascus.

He brought with him the best things of Damascus to give to Elisha. He loaded forty camels and had them carry/transport everything.

So Hazael prepared forty camel-loads of all the finest things/products of Damascus. Then he set off to meet Elisha and give them to him.
8:9c And he went in and stood before him
He went to Elisha and presented himself to him.

When Hazael reached Elisha’s ⌊home⌋ , he went in to speak to him.
8:9d and said, “Your son Ben-hadad king of Aram has sent me to ask,
He said, “Your servant (sing.) Ben-Hadad king of Aram has sent me to ⌊you⌋ .

He said, “Ben-Hadad, the king of Aram/Syria, considers you as his father. He has sent me ⌊to you⌋ .
8:9e ‘Will I recover from this illness?’”
He wants to know if he will get well from his illness.”

He is sick and he wants you to tell him if he will get well again ⌊or not⌋ .”
