6:30a When the king heard the words of the woman,
When the king heard what the woman had said,

The king of Israel listened to the woman’s complaint.
6:30b he tore his clothes.
he tore his robe ⌊to show his sorrow⌋ .

6:30c And as he passed by on the wall,
The king continued to walk on top of the wall where people were able to see him.

⌊At that same time,⌋ the king was still walking along the wall. The people looked up at him
6:30d the people saw the sackcloth under his clothes
They saw that under his robe

and noticed that under his ⌊torn⌋ outer clothes,
6:30e next to his skin.
