6:28a Then the king asked her, “What is the matter?”

⌊But⌋ then the king asked her, “What is your (sing.) problem/difficulty?”

-or-

The king then said to the woman, “⌊Tell me⌋ what is wrong.”

-or-

The king asked her to tell him what she needed/wanted.

6:28b And she answered, “This woman said to me,

The woman answered, “⌊The other day,⌋ this woman here said to me,

-or-

The woman replied, “ ⌊Your Majesty, do you see⌋ that woman ⌊over there⌋ ? A few days ago she persuaded/convinced me

-or-

The woman ⌊pointed to another woman and⌋ said that this other woman had told her

6:28c ‘Give up your son, that we may eat him,

‘Let us (incl.) kill your son today, so that we can eat him.

-or-

to give up my son for food for us today.

-or-

to kill her son so that both of them could eat the boy’s flesh that day.

6:28d and tomorrow we will eat my son.’

Tomorrow we will kill my son and then eat him too.’

-or-

She promised to give up her son the following day for them to eat.

-or-

Then the following day, ⌊the woman had said,⌋ they could eat her son too.
