SIL Translator’s Notes on 2 Kings 6:23

6:23a So the king prepared a great feast for them,

So the king provided a big feast for the Aramean men/soldiers.

-or-

So the king ⌊of Israel⌋ ⌊ordered his servants to⌋ make a large meal for Aram’s/Syria’s army.

6:23b and after they had finished eating and drinking,

When they had eaten and drunk ⌊their fill⌋ ,

-or-

The men/soldiers ate and drank. After they had finished,

6:23c he sent them away, and they returned to their master.

he sent them on their way. So they returned to their master, ⌊the king of Aram⌋ .

-or-

the king let them go home ⌊to the land of Aram/Syria⌋ . They went to their lord/king ⌊and reported to him what had happened⌋ .

6:23d And the Aramean raiders did not come into the land of Israel again.

After that, the groups of men from Aram did not enter/attack the land of Israel anymore.

-or-

Then the soldiers of Aram/Syria stopped their/making attacks on the land of Israel.
