SIL Translator’s Notes on 2 Kings 5:23

5:23a But Naaman insisted, “Please, take two talents.”

Naaman said, “Please accept (sing.) one hundred and fifty pounds of silver.”

-or-

Naaman said, “Let me give you (sing.) seventy kilograms of silver.

-or-

Naaman said that Gehazi should take twice that amount of silver/money,

5:23b And he urged Gehazi to accept them.

Naaman warmly insisted that Gehazi accept it.

-or-

Please accept them.”

-or-

and he encouraged Gehazi to receive these gifts.

5:23c Then he tied up two talents of silver in two bags

Then he tied one hundred and fifty pounds of silver in two bags,

Then Naaman put the seventy kilograms of silver into two bags.

5:23d along with two sets of clothing

along with two changes of clothes.

-or-

He added⌋ two outfits/suits.

5:23e and gave them to two of his servants,

Then he gave the bags to two of his servants,

He gave them/it ⌊all⌋ to two of his own servants

5:23f who carried them ahead of Gehazi.

and they went/walked ahead of Gehazi carrying them.

to carry for Gehazi.
