Section 25:8-17

Babylonian soldiers destroyed Jerusalem and its temple

25:8a On the seventh day of the fifth month,

It was now the seventh day of the fifth month ⌊of the year⌋ .

-or-

It was day seven in the fifth month ⌊according to the Jewish/Hebrew calendar ⌋ . ⌊ ⌋

25:8b in the nineteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar’s reign over Babylon,

Nebuchadnezzar had been king of Babylon for nineteen years.

-or-

Nebuchadnezzar had ruled Babylon for about nineteen years.

25:8c Nebuzaradan captain of the guard,

Nebuzaradan, the captain/chief of the guards

-or-

The leader/head of his bodyguard was ⌊then⌋ a man ⌊called⌋ Nebuzaradan.

25:8d a servant of the king of Babylon, entered Jerusalem.

and an official serving the king of Babylon, arrived in Jerusalem.

-or-

This ⌊respected⌋ official of the king of Babylon reached Jerusalem ⌊at this time⌋ .

About a month later Nebuzaradan the commander of the royal guard came to Jerusalem. He was a top/chief official of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon. At/By this time Nebuchadnezzar had reigned for about nineteen (19) years.
