SIL Translator’s Notes on 2 Kings 24:3

24:3a Surely this happened to Judah at the LORD’s command,

Some ancient manuscripts say “because of Yahweh’s anger” rather than “because of Yahweh’s command.” You may wish to follow the major language version in your area.

It was certainly because of what Yahweh had said that these things happened to ⌊the people of⌋ Judah.

-or-

Yes, these disasters happened to Judah because Yahweh commanded/decreed it.

24:3b to remove them from His presence

He allowed all this⌋ in order to send/push them away from him.

-or-

He decided⌋ to get rid of the people of Judah

24:3c because of the sins of Manasseh and all that he had done,

The Hebrew is literally “for the sins of Manasseh according to all that he had done.”

He/Yahweh sent/pushed them away⌋ because of the many sins that Manasseh had committed.

-or-

because ⌊their king⌋ Manasseh had sinned so greatly/much.
