SIL Translator’s Notes on 2 Kings 19:20

19:20a Then Isaiah son of Amoz sent a message to Hezekiah:

The Hebrew text does not have an explicit object for the verb “sent.” The Berean Standard Bible has supplied the object “a message.”

Then Isaiah son of Amoz sent this message to Hezekiah.

Amoz’s son, ⌊the prophet⌋ Isaiah, then sent a man/messenger to King Hezekiah

19:20b “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says:

“This is what Yahweh, the God of the people of Israel, says:

with a word/message from Yahweh the God of Israel.

19:20c I have heard your prayer concerning Sennacherib king of Assyria.

I have heard what you prayed to me concerning Sennacherib, the king of Assyria.

Yahweh assured Hezekiah that he had heard Hezekiah’s prayer about Sennacherib king of Assyria.
