SIL Translator’s Notes on 2 Kings 17:36

17:36a Instead, worship the LORD, who brought you out of the land of Egypt with great power and an outstretched arm.

It was Yahweh who with great strength and with a powerful hand brought you up out of the land of Egypt. Yahweh is the one whom you must worship.

I Yahweh am the one who with great and powerful deeds brought you out of Egypt. I am the ⌊only⌋ one whom you must worship.

He reminded them that it was he who had brought them out of Egypt by his great power. He commanded that they should worship him ⌊alone⌋ .

17:36a (reordered)

Worship Yahweh, for it was he who led you out of Egypt with/by his great power.

You shall worship ⌊only⌋ me! I am Yahweh, the one who rescued you from Egypt with my mighty power.

They should worship Yahweh, the one who worked/acted powerfully to save them from ⌊the land of⌋ Egypt.

17:36b You are to bow down to Him

You are to bow down before Yahweh.

Bow down to me ⌊in worship

-or-

Only⌋ to him should they offer honor/worship

17:36c and offer sacrifices to Him.

To Yahweh alone you are to offer sacrifices.

and offer sacrifices ⌊only⌋ to me.

and make sacrifices.
