15:16a At that time Menahem, starting from Tirzah,

15:16b attacked Tiphsah and everyone in its vicinity,
It is not certain which city is referred to here. It was probably not the Tiphsah on the Euphrates River, which was almost 300 miles away from Tirzah.
to Tiphsah. He destroyed all the people including those in the surrounding territory

against Tiphsah city. He had all the people living in and around it killed
15:16c because they would not open their gates.
because they refused to let him enter the city.

because they refused to surrender to him.
15:16d So he attacked Tiphsah
He destroyed the city of Tiphsah

He allowed his men to ruin the city
15:16e and ripped open all the pregnant women.
and slaughtered the pregnant women there.
