15:10a Then Shallum son of Jabesh conspired against Zechariah,

Shallum son of Jabesh plotted against Zechariah.

-or-

The son of Jabesh who was called Shallum made/arranged a plan to kill Zechariah.

15:10b struck him down and killed him in front of the people,

He hit/struck him ⌊with a weapon⌋ in the presence of the people and killed him.

-or-

Then in public Shallum attacked Zechariah. He killed him

15:10c and reigned in his place.

Then he became the next king ⌊himself⌋ .

and made himself king in his place.
