SIL Translator’s Notes on 2 Kings 14:27

14:27a and since the LORD had said that He would not

But it was not Yahweh’s purpose

Yahweh did not want

14:27b blot out the name of Israel from under heaven,

to remove/destroy ⌊the nation of⌋ Israel from the earth.

-or-

to erase/wipe ⌊the people of⌋ Israel from the the surface of the earth.

14:27c He saved them by the hand of Jeroboam son of Jehoash.

Therefore, he rescued them. He used Jehoash’s son Jeroboam to save them.

-or-

So he saved them through Jeroboam son of Jehoash.
