12:9a Then Jehoiada the priest took a chest,

So Jehoiada the priest took/found a large box,

Then Jehoiada the sacrificer went and got a box ⌊for holding silver pieces/money⌋ .

12:9b bored a hole in its lid,

and he pierced/cut a hole in its top.

-or-

He made a hole in its top cover

12:9c and set it beside the altar

Then he put it near the altar,

-or-

and placed it very close to where people made sacrifices ⌊to Yahweh⌋ .

12:9d on the right side as one enters the house of the LORD.

on the right-hand side of the entrance to the house of Yahweh.

-or-

⌊This was⌋ to the right of where people entered the temple of Yahweh.

12:9e There the priests who guarded the threshold put

The priests in charge of the doorway ⌊to Yahweh’s house⌋ placed into this box

-or-

There were ⌊always⌋ sacrificers on duty watching/protecting the ⌊temple’s⌋ entryway. Those sacrificers now began to drop into that box

12:9f all the money brought into the house of the LORD.

all the silver that ⌊people⌋ brought to the house of Yahweh.

-or-

all the silver money/pieces that people gave/offered to Yahweh there.
