Section 12:1-21

King Joash ruled Judah

12:1a In the seventh year of Jehu, Joash became king,

The Hebrew text has “Jehoash,” a different form of the name “Joash.”

In the seventh year of Jehu’s ⌊reign/rule over Israel⌋ , Joash became the king ⌊of Judah⌋ .

-or-

Joash became king ⌊of Judah⌋ when Jehu had been king ⌊of Israel⌋ for about seven years.

12:1b and he reigned in Jerusalem forty years.

For forty years he ruled as king from ⌊the city of⌋ Jerusalem.

-or-

Joash lived in Jerusalem ⌊city⌋ and ruled ⌊Judah⌋ for forty years.

12:1c His mother’s name was Zibiah;

The name of his mother was Zibiah.

-or-

His mother was called Zibiah.

12:1d she was from Beersheba.

She was/came from ⌊the city of⌋ Beersheba.

-or-

Her hometown was Beersheba.
