7:21a And when this temple has become a heap of rubble,

This temple will become a mound of ruins.

My house will be turned into a rubbish pile.

7:21b all who pass by it will be appalled and say,

Everybody who walks by will be shocked. They will ask ⌊each other⌋,

People will look at it in horror. They will say ⌊to one another⌋,

7:21c ‘Why has the LORD done such a thing to this land and to this temple?’

‘Why did Yahweh do such a ⌊terrible⌋ thing to this land and to this temple?’
-or-
‘Why did Yahweh allow this to happen to this land? Why did ⌊he allow people to destroy⌋ his house?’
