6:38a and when they return to You with all their heart and soul

Then they might return to you with all their heart. They might return to you with all their soul

Then maybe they will repent sincerely. They will turn their hearts completely back to you

6:38b in the land of the enemies who took them captive,

there in the land where they are captives.

in the land where they are prisoners.

6:38c and when they pray in the direction of the land that You gave to their fathers,

They will pray while facing toward this land that you gave to their ancestors.
-or-
They will face toward this land that you gave to their fathers before them, and they will pray.

6:38d the city You have chosen, and the house I have built for Your Name,

They will pray to you facing toward this city, the city you chose. They will face this temple, the temple I built to honor your name.

They will face toward ⌊Jerusalem⌋, your chosen city, when they pray to you. They will face this house I built, where you are worshiped.
