34:2a And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD

He did things that pleased Yahweh.

He did good things that Yahweh thought were right.

34:2b and walked in the ways of his father David;

He did the things his father David had done.
-or-
He followed the example of his ancestor, King David.

34:2c he did not turn aside to the right or to the left.

He did not turn away from doing what was right.

He did not disobey God’s law in any way.
