33:2a And he did evil in the sight of the LORD

He did what displeased Yahweh.

He did evil things that Yahweh disliked

33:2b by following the abominations of the nations that the LORD had driven out before the Israelites.

He did the evil things that the ⌊people of the surrounding⌋ nations did. They were the people that Yahweh drove out of the land when the people of Israel first came.

and followed the previous peoples’ disgusting practices. He did what they had done before Yahweh chased them out of the land.
