Section 32:1-23

King Sennacherib of Assyria invaded Judah

32:1a After all these acts of faithfulness,

Later, after King Hezekiah had been faithful to do these things,
-or-
Even though King Hezekiah obeyed ⌊Yahweh⌋ by doing all these things,

32:1b Sennacherib king of Assyria came and invaded Judah.

Sennacherib, the king of Assyria, invaded Judah.

King Sennacherib of Assyria ⌊and his army⌋ came into the land of Judah.

32:1c He laid siege to the fortified cities,

He ⌊and his army⌋ surrounded the walled towns

They camped around the towns that had walls around them ⌊to force them to surrender⌋.

32:1d intending to conquer them for himself.

to defeat them and to get them for himself.

The king hoped to overpower them and to become king over them.
