28:5a So the LORD his God delivered Ahaz into the hand of the king of Aram,

So Yahweh his God handed him over to the king of Aram.

Because of what he did, Yahweh his God allowed the king of Aram to conquer Judah.

28:5b who attacked him

The Aram people defeated Ahaz

The soldiers of Aram won the battle against Ahaz.

28:5c and took many captives to Damascus.

and captured many of Judah’s people and took them to Damascus.

They took many people ⌊of Judah⌋ as prisoners. They took them to Damascus, {the capital city of Aram}.

28:5d Ahaz was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel,

28:5e who struck him with great force.

who killed many of Judah’s people.
