12:4a He captured the fortified cities of Judah

He took the fortified towns of Judah
-or-
King Shishak ⌊and his soldiers⌋ took the towns of Judah that had walls around them.

12:4b and came as far as Jerusalem.

and came close to Jerusalem.

They kept attacking until they reached the city of Jerusalem.
