Section 12:13-16

King Rehoboam completed his reign

12:13a Thus King Rehoboam established himself in Jerusalem.

King Rehoboam became powerful in Jerusalem
-or-
King Rehoboam made himself strong as the king in Jerusalem

12:13b

and continued to be the king.
-or-
and continued to reign there.

12:13c He was forty-one years old when he became king,

His age was forty-one when he became king

He was forty-one (41) years old when he became king.

12:13d and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem,

and he ruled in Jerusalem for seventeen years.

⌊He lived in⌋ Jerusalem and was king of Judah for seventeen (17) years.

12:13e the city the LORD had chosen from all the tribes of Israel in which to put His Name.

This was the town that Yahweh chose from all the clans of Israel to be the place of worship for his name.

Jerusalem was the town, out of all ⌊the towns⌋ in Israel, that Yahweh chose for people to come and worship him.

12:13f His mother’s name was Naamah the Ammonite.

Rehoboam’s mother was Naamah. She was from the country of Ammon.

The name of King Rehoboam’s mother was Naamah. She was from the Ammon people.
